Elected Officials Praise Con Edison

At a post-Hurricane Irene press conference on September 6, 2011, New York State Assemblyman Rory I. Lancman and New York City Councilman James F. Gennaro praised Con Edison employees for work done safely after Hurricane Irene.

In Queens alone, 32,697 customers lost power as a result of Hurricane Irene. Hundreds of wires had to be repaired across the borough, and 66 poles and 11 transformers were replaced or repaired. Power was restored to 95% of Queens customers by 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 30th.

A total of 346 Con Edison crews were joined by 47 mutual aid crews from as far as Texas and Colorado. Con Edison proudly reports no lost time or injuries among either company or mutual aid crews.
